WHAT STARTED OUT AS A TINY BEDROOM RECORD, GREW INTO SOMETHING MUCH BIGGER.

Dialling narrative concept albums like Quadrophenia up to 11, Critical Frequency evolved from a set of rough demos I wrote into a unique experiential show that toured the UK under the stage name The Capture Effect.  

Set amidst the backdrop of a turbulent UK (2010-2011), the show harnessed pop-culture, hijacked headlines, and blurred the lines between music and film. Projecting a POV film I made with Cosmic Joke Productions behind the band, immersing audiences in a visceral portrait of disaffected youth. 

Draws you into the beating heart of the protest. Channelling placard slogans, before erupting into the chaos of this initial flashpoint of disaffection.

Performing the show around the UK with my band was one hell of a wild ride.

Highlights include: vibing to our single on BBC radio six as we raced a thunderstorm up the M60, swapping slices of Dominos with the Klaxons, hearing Will from the Inbetweeners say he “dug” our gig and every one of the million minutes I spent in sweaty, cramped rehearsal rooms with my talented band of brothers - The Capture Effect.

2010-2011 was a turbulent time: Tory HQ was attacked by protestors, the News of the World closed—a victim of its own phone-hacking scandal—and London burned in scenes that shocked the world. These events became the narrative spine of Critical Frequency, with reactive protest songs for each drawing audiences into the 'reality' of the story.

Puts a lens to the dark side of the media. Documenting the phone-hacking scandal, as public outrage takes down a division of the Murdoch empire.

Pulls you into the seductive vitriol of mob mentality, as thousands riot, ransack and burn London following the tragic death of Mark Duggan.
